When I arrived at this home on the river for Mary and Aaron’s wedding day, I was gobsmacked. It looked like I was in a completely different place. You drove down a beautiful winding road that turned into a steep hill leading to the house and river at the bottom. It felt less like Brooklet, Georgia and more like the mountains.

Wedding day rain showers can stress out even the most laid back bride – which is exactly what Mary is – a laid back bride. In addition to the wrench the rain caused with the day of schedule, setting up and generally getting things going, it also brought a richness to the greenery around us, a tranquil sound of the rushing river with all its new water and an all-around beauty that only rain can bring. Yes, the ceremony got pushed back but, even with those things, Mary and Aaron were married. They stood on the dock overlooking the hurried currents of the river with a small group of their closest friends and family (including Aaron’s stylish and sweet grandmother who made a red velvet cake that was slap-yo-mama good – and I’m just saying if her dress was my size I’d get one just like her) and became man and wife. I could not have pictured a more beautiful moment for these two.

Thank you, Mary and Aaron for trusting me to be there on such a special day! Enjoy this preview of your gallery!
