There are some wedding days that you leave already knowing you are going to miss them.

Rachel and Matthew’s wedding was one of those days.

After photographing their classic, timeless Savannah engagement session, I had been looking forward to June 27 for quite a while. Their engagement session was full of the beautiful little corners that make Savannah so special, and I remember thinking just how excited I was to see how their wedding day would come together at Hadden Estate.

It did not disappoint.

In fact, I’m still finding myself thinking about this day weeks later.

A Wedding Day Filled With So Much Joy

Trying to find the words to explain what made Rachel and Matthew’s wedding so special is harder than I expected. It wasn’t just one moment or one beautiful detail. It was the way everything came together.

It was Rachel and Matthew.

It was their families.

It was the people who traveled to celebrate them.

It was an incredible team of vendors who cared so much about getting every little thing right.

And it was the feeling that was present all day long.

There was so much joy.

You could feel how loved these two are, and that made photographing their day such a gift. Every time I look through their images, I’m reminded of just how much love was woven into the entire celebration.

From Savannah to Hadden Estate

I loved getting to know Rachel and Matthew during their engagement session in Savannah. We wandered through some of the city’s most beautiful little spaces, creating the kind of images that feel classic and effortless.

Their wedding day carried that same timeless feeling, but there was something different about seeing them surrounded by the people who have loved them long before this day.

This is one of my favorite things about photographing weddings.

The pretty things matter. The flowers, the dress, the invitation suite, the beautiful venue. Of course I love photographing all of those things.

But the photographs I find myself holding onto are usually the ones that remind you who was there and how it felt to be there.

The people.

The hugs.

The laughter.

The happy tears.

The little moments happening just outside of what everyone else is watching.

Those are the photographs that become part of a family’s story.

The Details Were Incredible, But the Meaning Was Even Better

Rachel and Matthew’s vendor team brought so much thought and intention to the day. Every detail felt considered, but nothing felt like it was there simply to be pretty.

There was meaning behind it all.

And I think that’s why these photographs feel the way they do.

They feel happy.

They feel full.

They feel like Rachel and Matthew.

I found myself getting more and more excited about their images even after the wedding was over. Usually, you expect that initial excitement to fade once the wedding gallery is delivered and you move on to the next celebration.

That hasn’t happened with this one.

If anything, I’ve grown more giddy about it with each passing day.

A Day I Would Photograph All Over Again

Rachel and Matthew, I hope you know how special it was to be there.

Thank you for trusting me with something that means so much. Thank you for letting me into your family for the day and allowing me to photograph not only the beautiful parts, but the people and moments that made the day yours.

Your wedding was such a beautiful beginning.

And honestly, I wish we could do Saturday all over again.
